Skin Tag On Neck

Skin tags are the growths of skin caused by different factors like rubbing, obesity, and pregnancy. Like other skin conditions, they can be tough to deal with and can make your daily life more difficult. Around 45% of the entire population experiences skin tags. In this article, we will focus on apple cider vinegar and skin tags.

You’ve probably heard of apple cider vinegar and skin tags. But first, what is ACV all about? This is an old-school beverage that involves fermenting apple juice. The result is a beverage that’s sweeter than regular vinegar due to the sweet fruit.

There are many claims about this product including its effectiveness for treating many skin-related conditions. As always, it’s important to separate fact from fiction. Many bold claims are made about ACV but many of them are based on little or no scientific research. It’s possible ACV could treat skin tags effectively since it’s used for treating many different conditions.

What Exactly Are Skin Tags?

This is a very common condition that affects nearly half the human population during their life. What’s it all about? These are small skin growth that often appears in areas like the neck, underarms, and other areas where skin folds exist.

Several things cause skin tags like genetics, obesity, pregnancy, and just skin-to-skin friction. There are also causes like collagen and blood vessels that get stuck in thick skin layers. In these areas, friction can make skin tags even worse.

However, the most common cause of skin tags is likely skin-on-skin rubbing. It’s most common among overweight people. When people have lots of extra body weight as well as the skin, there’s a greater chance they’ll have skin friction. There are also skin folds there that can result in skin tags.

Pregnancy is another one of the main causes of skin tags. This is due to chemical changes and hormones during pregnancy. Another factor is expecting mothers usually have extra skin folds/creases. There might be skin tags when there’s skin-on-skin friction.

Another big factor is genetics. For example, if you have brothers/sisters, parents, or grandparents who have many skin tags then there’s a good chance you’ll also have them sometime in life. This condition is also more common in middle-aged and senior people.

Some good news is skin tags are non-cancerous. As a result, you won’t have to worry about any major risk to your health. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t treat the skin condition. However, it does mean that you won’t have to worry about cancer cells and them spreading to different body parts.

Even though skin tags aren’t dangerous and don’t cause any health risks they can be tough to deal with. This is especially true if they become big or are in areas that make them uncomfortable. One example is on the eyelid.

Apple Cider Vinegar And Skin Tags

ACV is a go-to home remedy for treating a wide range of different skin conditions. In many cases, there’s limited scientific proof that it works to treat different problems. However, that doesn’t prevent fans from claiming it works to deal with many skin issues like tags.

As always, it’s important to look at the scientific evidence. Just because you think a certain DIY treatment works on skin tags doesn’t mean it’s based on solid science. There doesn’t seem to be any real evidence that ACV can effectively treat skin tags.

An irony is that some studies show it might damage the skin. There are situations where the ACV not only removed the skin problems but also a layer of skin. This can cause various issues like inflammation and scars.

A caveat is these conditions are tougher to ditch than skin tags. So, you might want to reconsider if ACV is the best option. Keep in mind the fermentation process results in a highly-acidic vinegar. It’s loaded with antioxidants but the high acidity can cause other issues.

There’s also been at least one case that showed applying ACV to skin resulted in a burn. This was due to the ACV chemicals and likely related to the vinegar in the product.

Does this mean you should never use ACV to treat skin tags? That’s not the case. However, it’s important to take the right steps to get results that are as safe and effective as possible. Here are the steps:

  • Soak one cotton ball in ACV
  • Use a bandage to attach the cotton ball to your skin
  • Remove the cotton ball after 10-15 minutes
  • Use soap/warm water to wash the region
  • Let the area dry and don’t add a bandage
  • Do this process every day for 2 weeks
